A monastery is a congregation of monks that stands out as a community committed to the renunciation of desire for power and wealth and engaged in the practices of contentment, patience, and austerity. It should never become a community where the affluence of tulkus is deemed as a sign of virtuous activity and the wealth of monks a measure of competence.
